ARJUN CHAKRABORTY
My party people...
A mix and match from all fields. Just
because I am an actor doesn?t mean that
I will only invite people from Tollywood. I would invite bureaucrats, politicians, people from the corporate world,
businessmen and, of course, actors. My
guest list will definitely include Sougata Roy , Harsh Neotia, Wasim Kapoor
and Jogen Chowdhury , among others.
Doing up the house...
I prefer minimal decorations because
all the parties that we attend are heavily decorated. So I would just add some
extra lights. If it is only close friends, I
will throw a candle-light party . If the
head count goes up, I would like to have
bright lights. Flowers are a must.
The party platter...
Authentic Chinese cuisine. There will
be chimney soup, mushrooms, Chicken
Manchurian and prawns.... I love wine,
so both red and white wine. Rosey wine,
which is a pale wine, is a must. Vodka
and whisky will also be there.
Setting the table...
I would have wine glasses in cut glass
but I would not go for very expensive
cutlery.
Music and the mood...
We will play all kinds of music, Rabindrasangeet to Rashid Khan, jazz to
rock. Music should go with the mood of
the people... The crowd should relax
and enjoy the party and there should be
a lot of interaction among the people.
LOCKET
CHATTERJEE
My party people...
All non-filmi folk. I am not very
close to people from my profession. I would call some of my
college friends.
Doing up the house...
I will opt for a red-and-white
theme that goes with the
Dashami mood. My drawing
room will be decked up with
lots of rose petals, floating candles, diyas and dim lights. The
room should smell of
dhunuchi and I will place a
barandala on the centre table.
The party platter...
The food should be strictly
Bengali. I will serve ilish
machh and a lot of other fish
preparations along with rice,
shukto and muger dal. For
desserts, there will be malpoa
and lots of mishti, like chhanar
roll.... No drinks. I would
rather serve tea with piping
hot pakoras....
Setting the table...
I would like to have very delicate bone China on the table. I
have a knack for cutlery and I
often pick up stuff from various places. So I will take my
collection out.
Music and the mood...
Rabindrasangeet. The ambience has to be very soothing.
AGNIMITRAPAUL
My party people...
Most of my relatives, including
my shejokaki. From Tollywood,
Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) has
to be there. Then, Locket, Rituparna Sengupta, Koneenica, Bickram
and Jaya Seal Ghosh, Goutam
Ghose, Anindo from Chandrabindoo...
Doing up the house...
There will be low-seating arrangement. Since the whole idea is to
relax, I would like my guests to sit
on the floor carpet with lots of pillows around. The dress code is
traditional and my guests will
have to either sing or recite poetry.... I will get a harmonium and
tabla.
The party platter...
For starters, there will be prawn
toast, chicken boti kebab, mutton
tandoori and paneer shashlik.
The main course will comprise
muger dal with fishhead, rice,
kosha mangsho and ilish paturi....
The drinks counter will have both
red and white wine. Plus, vodka,
Scotch and fresh lime soda.
Setting the table...
I would serve everything on earthen utensils and banana leaves.
Music and the mood...
I will go for light instrumental
music since the ambience has to
be very soothing. People need to
relax and feel comfortable.
SWASTIKA
MUKHERJEE
My party people...
Only very close friends.
No one from the industry.
Doing up the
house...
We celebrate Navratri
and offer puja through
all the nine days, so our
house is decorated with
mango leaves and
kadam phool. I would
leave it that way.
The party platter...
I would love to offer only
Bengali food. There will
be lots of kebabs,
biryani, machher paturi,
kalia, chingri machh,
masala pomfret, and lots
and lots of sweets.
Drinks will flow too. Red
wine is my favourite.
There will also be
whisky , tequila and a
black vodka which I got
from abroad.
Setting the table...
I will go for regular cutlery, nothing fancy .
Music and the
mood...
Strictly Bengali songs.
I will have very
bright lights, but the
ambience would be
relaxed.
JUNE
My party people...
My actress cousin Priyanka (Trivedi) and her sister. Plus, my close
friends and my sweetheart.
Doing up the house...
I think I would have an Arabian
decor with chiffon drapes, candles
and lots of flowers.
The party platter...
I will have loads of snacks for
starters and lots of red meat kebabs
for dinner to go with the Arabian
theme.... For drinks, there will be
lots of cocktails, wine and champagne.
Setting the table...
If it?s a close-knit party, I will take
out my China and silver cutlery . But
if it?s a big crowd, I will think of
something less expensive.
Music and the mood...
I would prefer lounge music, like
trance and The Buddha Bar Series.
The ambience should be cosy with
soft warm lights.
BICKRAM GHOSH
Our party people...
Very close friends from my school and college days,
two or three couples from Tollywood and the music
fraternity . I would also invite people from other
fields, like painters and writers.
Doing up the house...
I would prefer a rooftop party as I have a stretch of
green on my terrace. Dim low lights will be perfect.
The party platter...
Bangali khabar because we have a fabulous Bengali
cook of 25 years. But if I want to experiment it would
be a mix of Italian and oriental cuisine. I prefer exotic food. I would serve wine, vodka and rum.
Setting the table...
It could be anything, fancy or traditional.
Music and the mood...
Soft lounge music or western classical, but not the
kind of music I create because then I would pay
more attention to that.
RRISHII KAUSHIK
My party peopleā¦
All my friends, who are not from the film industry .
Doing up the house...
It would be a very Bengali look.... Lots of flowers,
alpona and dim lights.
The party platter...
Traditional Bengali food ? bhaat, dal, ilish machh,
mutton, mishti doi and sweets. There will be wine and
cocktails.
Laying the table...
Since I will stick to tradition, I will have kansha utensils.
Music and the mood...
The beat of dhaak to start off with and dance numbers in the late evening. The mood has to be very
soothing with dim lighting.
PARNO MITRA
My party people...
Very close friends like Rahul and
Priyanka of Chirodini... Tumi Je
Aamar, Sahebda (Chatterjee)
and my cousins. I don?t like a big
crowd at a party . My guests will
have to dress traditionally .
Dhuti-panjabi for men and
women should drape saris in the
Bengali style.
Doing up the house...
I will decorate my home very traditionally with a mattress on the
floor and a white bedsheet
spread on it. I would throw some
cushions around and the curtains would be red. I would also
have lots of flowers.
The party platter...
Only Bengali cuisine like machher paturi, dal, rice and curry .
There would be a variety of
sweets. I love sweets! It would be
a non-alcoholic party . I would
serve only lassi and mocktails.
Setting the table...
Since it?s typical Bengali food, I
will serve it on kansha plates.
Music and the mood...
I will play western music, but I
would prefer that we all sing together. Sahebda is a very good
singer so he should lead the way .
Dim lights and a soothing atmosphere are all we need.
